BUGS in the PANTRY?

Indian Meal Moth, Mediterranean Flour Moth, Raisin Moth, Tobacco Moth, Almond Moth, Cigarette Beetle, and Warehouse Beetle

Crops Affected: Indoor pest

States Affected: All states

Life Cycle: Pantry moth and beetle pest species can live their entire life cycle within the contaminated area, and are easily transported to new sites when infested product is purchased.

Damage: Damage to stored products by pest moth species is caused by larvae spinning extensive silk webs that accumulate fecal pellets, cast skins, and egg shells, contaminating the food. This contamination often surpasses the amount of food consumed by the insects. Beetle damage also includes fecal contamination, as well as chewing or holes in the food. It is crucial for homeowners, food processing plant managers, warehouse operators, and those in groceries and granaries to remain vigilant for signs of infestation.

Season to Trap: Year round, less in winter

How To Use: Place assembled trap with lure inside in kitchen, pantry, or other storage space with suspected infestation. Replace every 90 days. Adults pantry moths and beetles are attracted to the scent in the lure. Once they land on the sticky trap, they become ensnared, never to mate or lay eggs again.

Additional IPM Solutions: Store dry goods in airtight containers, regularly inspect and clean your pantry for signs of infestation, practice proper food rotation, check packaging before purchasing, maintain a clean kitchen by wiping down surfaces and vacuuming regularly, freeze or heat-treat susceptible items, promptly discard infested products, and ensure that your pantry is well-sealed and free of entry points to prevent pests from accessing stored food.
